National Marina Day is all about taking a step back from business and really focusing on why we love what we do. It is a celebration of marinas, boaters, and the wonderful communities that support them. The Association of Marina Industries has been supporting National Marina Day –in one form or another—for over twenty years.
This summer, we decided to change National Marina Day to National Marina Days (plural!). From Memorial Day to Labor Day, marinas celebrated with their communities the best way they know how. Good food, fun on the water, tours, demonstrations, and of course, giving back.
Thoughtful marina owners, staff, local officials, Boy Scout troops, and supportive locals devoted their time to giving back. Many of those marinas raised money for Folds of Honor, a charitable foundation devoted to support the families of wounded or fallen US Soldiers. Some marinas held fundraisers for their friends in need. Other marinas raised money to support youth sailing scholarships.
Whatever way you celebrated National Marina Day, thank you for all that you do. We love being a part of this amazing community of boaters, and we can’t wait to see what you all have in store for next year’s celebrations!
